Fireplaces

All these home plans show fireplaces. Traditional wood burning fireplaces take up space, literally create drafts in your home when operating, are messy, and you need a place near them to store the cut wood to be stoking them with.

So. How about this? Gel burning CORNER fireplaces. Let's face it, most corners are unused spaces. But corner cabinets don't really hold much because of that triangle space. So a fireplace would be great there.

Those are very nice, Marti! And you are right: they do save space. As long as there is some sense of being warm and cozy, they would work just fine.

A friend of mine had one of these and it literally ran you out of the room after it had been on for an hour. It's amazing how much heat they put out. But, the heat is harsh and drying. You would have to have some way to add lots of humidity. A counter top humidifier would not do the job.

Love them both....not sure I have even a corner to stick on it. I am thinking about buying a unvented small gas wall heater. Something that does not take electric. I have seen them and think it might just work to keep house warm on days we lose electric. It would be for backup heat. I do wonder if this type fireplace would work for those days.

I have a ventless propane unit in my home and it works great to heat the whole house when the power is out. Where I am it does seem to happen more than it should.

I have been looking at the fireplace with the media shelves..but these look interesting to. I don't really have a corner to put one in..LOL My house is so tiny..and crowded..LOL
