Can Technology Alter Brain Chemistry?

I can't help but think that all the technology we are now exposed to is somehow altering our brain chemistry. We are being handed information on an instant basis and much of it is fragmented, disjointed and extremely fast. Can our brains handle this on a daily basis without there being some change? People seem to be experiencing much more anxiety, impatience, depression and intolerance than in previous generations. Just what is your take on technology and the brain?

Good point! I think many are using some of this new technology to actually "numb" their emotional pain kind of like alcohol, other drugs, sex, gambling, etc...

Some people do appear to be "addicted" to a lot of the new technology. Maybe it does serve the purpose of numbing their emotional pain. They seem lost when they aren't Twittering or Texting.

Absolutely, it can and does. Intentionally in advertising, foods, drugs, video games, etc.
Unintentionally everywhere else.

Ideas shape brains, brains shape ideas...the repercussions of this dynamic synergy is pervasive not only in individuals and our society, but globally. It effects the whole Earth.

Technology is a way of doing things that can be shared. The doing and the sharing changes us.
