He was a freakin' Army psychiatrist who was getting shipped out to help our men/women in the war!....who the hell was in charge of making sure that he was "ok"???....this is such a travesty----military men/women killed/injured by a co-worker--and on our own turf.....I agree with Brewguru--it's sounding like a crock coming out of Washington...
From what I hear he received a pretty expensive education on the military, then tried to get out when he was actually required to be militarily involved. Wouldn't that be nice. Join the military, get a college education on them, then get out, open your own practice and no student loans to pay back. Well, just sign me right up, Jeeves.
I also heard on some talk show where we shouldn't think that his faith, ethnicity, etc. played any part in this tragedy. Well, he sure didn't hesitate to play that card when he complained about being harrassed about it. And, come on, don't you think it would be the logical thinking these days. Kind of like if I am in my car and a bulletin comes on the radio that someone in a gorilla suit has just bombed the local bank, and I see someone in a gorilla suit in the car next to me, I kind of think I would at least wonder if this could be the bomber.
I'm thinking that he thought of thought of himself as something like a suicide bomber. Since he is still alive, I'll bet this government spends more on him now than they spent on his education, and they will probably find that he suffered the effects of something like PTSD, (although I can't imagine why, I don't think he had been deployed to anyplace of combat). Then they will house him in some mental institution and in a few years Barbara Walters or someone will do a follow up story about him and we will be treated to the heartwarming saga of how he has turned his life around and ministers to his fellow confinees.
It's enough to activate my gag reflex.

Not even remotely comparable. The inquisition was awful, but its victims were a few thousand, according to serious texts on world hisrtory.
The Damage to both number of deaths and especially CIVILIZATION (their latest atrocity was the demolition with TNT of the priceless Buddha Statues-works of arts carved in montainslopes in Afghanistan under the Taliban!) is 1,000s of times worse.
And it is 100%, USDA choice BS to compare the worst offenders in Christianity with the Moslems and say that the timing was about right.
Protestants came to power only in 1500 or so, Islam in 630 AD. Islam is still a bunch of savages, while what did protestants do wrong recently? And do not even dare to think, much less try to say, that... Hitler or Stalin were CHristians! They never went to church, and even if they were christians, none was a protestant (Hitler had catholic parents, Stalin Eastern Orthodox)

As for Obama calling for calm, let us not forget the aftermath of 9/11 when anyone who looked Middle Eastern was a target. This led to Sikhs being killed. Sikhs come from India and have nothing to do with Islam but the bumpkins who killed them thought they were Arabs. Yes, we need to not jump to stupid conclusions and have a repeat of that kind of behavior.
Give me a frigging break. You only have to look at how abysmally horribly moslems treat their OWN WOMEN! Look at the honor Killings of their own daughters, when they are even supsected of adultery or pre-marital sex!!! Look at the palestinian woman who became s suicide murderer, whose husband beat the holy crap out of her on a daily basis!
AND, most importantly, look what Islam has DONE to its own Moslems: It has turned their brains into MUSH!!!! Tell me ONE thing any scientist working in an ISLAMIC nation, NOT in the US or Europe, has EVER discovered the last few hundred years!
At least Christian nations developed most of modern SCIENCE and Tehcnology and cured the DISEASES that killed millions only a century ago. WHAT in the world did the 1 billion Moslems contribute to HUMAN CIVILIZATION? NOTHING! It is a ROGUE religion, the only one in the world that preaches killing the 'infidels" (those who have any other or no religion!) AND rewards the murderers by a seat in heaven if they do.
