Women Veterans Recognition Day Ceremony
The Alaska VA Healthcare System and Regional Office is having a Women Veterans Recognition Day Ceremony on Monday, November 9. The keynote speaker will be Brigadier General Deborah McManus, Asst Adjutant General of the Alaska Air National Guard.
The event will focus on the current status of women in today's military, the changing demographics of women veterans; and what the VA is doing to meet the needs of all women veterans.
There is an information fair from 5pm to 8pm, with the recognition ceremony at 6pm.
I am excited about attending this event. The new regional VA medical center is scheduled to open in Jan 2010 with a timeline of accepting patients beginning May 2010 -- I hope the information fair has information about the womens clinic and programs.
I will report back to my sister veterans late Monday/early Tuesday --- it will be late even by my time zone (Alaska time is 4 hours behind the east coast, at the most time difference) but I hope to have good news to share with you.
