"...Mr. Rangel is one of a small group of House leaders now meeting almost daily behind closed doors with Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Democrat of California, to distill from the three bills produced in separate committees the one package that will go to the House floor. Ultimately, Ms. Pelosi will have to decide the disputes, Democrats say, presumably with input from the White House..."

TRANSPARENCY. HOPE. CHANGE. BIPARTISANSHIP. INTEGRITY. Right.

Calling Rangel mister. What a joke. If it was anyone other than him, it would be prisoner rangel, but we can't hold them to the same standards, can we?

I must be getting senile, but seems to me, there were lots of people all upset over some closed door meetings that Vice-President Cheney had, but the same people seem to not care when Piglosi and the Chicago Mafia does it. What's the difference?

Since my last post got deleted, here's the link for you again.

Mr. Rangel is one of a small group of House leaders now meeting almost daily BEHIND CLOSED DOORS with Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Democrat of California, to distill from the three bills produced in separate committees the one package that will go to the House floor.

Is anyone else getting tired of hearing the THREE KEY WORDS in this standout line from the linked article?

How about this one?
Ms. Pelosi held THE LATEST IN A SERIES OF PRIVATE CAUCUSES in the Capitol basement…

The mention of the names Pelosi or Rangel make me think about how much ammunition I have for my Ruger .308 .

Dirck, your comment about guns puts you in the same category as "killing is the ultimate answer" Nidal Malik Hasan.

Is it more American to work through the democratic process or just shot anyone you disagree with?

Really? When is The ChiTown Commie going to start using it? The current administration has done all they can to stifle democratic process anywhere. Your reference to Hasan is a real stretch, don't you think?

You do understand how the democratic process is SUPPOSED to work, don't you? If you do, how about cluing in your president and his criminal table. And don't forget the court jester.

We'll see how proud they are when the voters respond to this miscarriage of the democratric process. I hope they all have alternate careers. No wait, most of them are lawyers, so they might have to actually go to work.

BTW, did you see them parading the kids and babies through the chambers DURING THE DISCUSSION. Tell me just what does a 7 month old baby have to do with this bill? Or the rep displaying the young kids and spouting how this bill would not be paid for by them? Man, if you have trouble sleeping, CSpan at night is better than any late night comedy show.

RobtC, first, Obama is not a communist. This hyperbole, hysterically inaccurate name-calling costs conservatives a lot of credibility. I can think of several uncomplimentary things to call him (because I don't always agree with him either), but if the words are not literate, accurate terms, they won't ultimately work.

Second, my reference is not a stretch at all, unless you REALLY think it is ok to shoot and kill duly elected members of the House of Representatives just because you personally disagree with their politics.

It seems that some cons and repubs have forgotten that the democratic process does not always fall in line with their thinking, but it's still the democratic process. President Obama is our duly and legally elected POTUS even though you hate him as much I hate Bush. You don't like it, you do what we libs, dems, progressives and independents did, you vote him and everyone who agrees with him out of office ... if you can.

sbe, I'm not totally happy with the House healthcare bill either, but hopefully when they have to compromise with the Senate bill it will end up actually more closely represent the healthcare bill President Obama has been pushing for.

Really, what would you call him? Socialist, Marxisxt?

This makes no sense to me, what are you referring to?

From Merriam-Webster
"Main Entry: de·moc·ra·cy
Function: noun

1 a : government by the people; especially : rule of the majority b : a government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving periodically held free elections

Now show me how this was a democratic process, when the bill was done behind closed, locked, doors with NO republicans being present. It has nothing to do with whether I like him or not, it is not being done correctly. I, personally, don't care whether you liked President Bush or not, you, nor I, am the focus of this discussion, following the process is. This, for those of us who remember, reeks of Russia and the Politburo. This country was founded on the principles that EVERYONE has a voice in the government, not just a few, and the will of the majority is what should be followed. Do you really think EVERYONE was represented in the "secret, closed door meetings"? I don't. Call me silly, but I still think when a person accepts the job of president, he signs a contract with ALL the people to follow the rules and procedures, as prescribed in The Constitution. The same with each and every senator and representative. They work for ME, accept my tax dollars as salaries, and they also have a duty to follow the rules/procedures, which they clearly have not done.

President Bush shows more class that Obama will ever even think about having. I haven't seen this much whining anywhere since my last visit to the kindergarten class. The Chitown Commies have yet to own up to creating any of the problems, let alone keeping the promises made during the campaign. I'm old fashioned, I expect people to live up their promises, don't you?

BTW, I prefer to think of myself as a Constitutional Conservative
