Message 70 of 2007

Opinions respected on this!

Today I was working at the Library book sale and saw a nice looking gentleman in line, holding a bag of books. When I realized who it was, I thought that maybe he was buying books to read in jail, or to trade with the inmates. Seriously, I wasn't initially sure why he was there until I saw him asking the couple ahead of him if they had any more books her could carry to their car. Then I realized that he was doing his community service which was part of his sentencing. Awhile later he came and stood next to me and asked me if we needed any more bags brought up or anything and I said that I didn't think so. He thanked me, said 'Have a Good Day', and went back to his job. A co-worker then came up to me and this is how that conversation went:

"Do you know who that was?"

ME: "Yes, how could I NOT? His face was only plastered across all the newspapers and tv screens for weeks this summer"

"I guess so but he is a really nice guy, no matter what he did"

ME: "I can't comment on that because I don't agree with what he did and it's clouding my judgement"

"It's behind him now and he has to live with it"

ME: "I could NEVER live with it. If I thought that God was punishing me by killing my daughter then I would become an atheist. If I did nothing to try to stop it, then I should pay a huge price for stupidity"

I will try to post a clip so you know who this is about.
And yes, he was very jovial and nice to everyone but it was like he was some kind of celebrity. People were talking to him just so they could say they talked to him. And, he was milking it for all it was worth. I didn't like that. Not at all.

Yes Trish, when I heard that the same women did it again I thought the news cast must be wrong. How could it be? I generally am against non voluntary neutering for humans but maybe there should be some exceptions to that.

That's right - Kara was 12, so for 6 yrs they have to serve jail time. That is a 6 mo sentence, but it requires them to stay in the area, I guess. Maybe not. I still think they got off easy. But they did lose their home and business to legal fees and bankruptcy. Aww.

I know of a guy who killed a 15 yr girl while drunk driving. He has to visit her grave every year on the anniversary of the accident, for the rest of his life!!!

Going to bed now so I can turn off my brain.
Thanks all - until tomorrow...HAPPY SUNDAY!

Being a type 1 diabetic myself, this young girl could have been treated in a matter of hours in the ER with nothing more than insulin. There was absolutely no reason to rely on God for the girl to be made well when a simple medication would have provided the girl with a very normal and healthy life. My opinion? Both parents are guilty if second degree murder, nothing less.

The man should be wearing a sign while he does his community service. One that reads; "I deliberately killed my daughter and pretty much got away with it." Some kind of celebrity, about as much of a celebrity as Charlie Manson.

I know this message isn't about babies dying when sleeping with parents, but I had to check it out -- 72 babies died sleeping with parents, caregiver, or other child between 2004 and 2007 -- in Milwaukee. Five babies died in the Milwaukee area between March and May of this year - all five from suffocation while sleeping with a parent.

We never slept with our children, but I know parents who do. For some it's a cultural thing, for others it seems to be a lack of understanding and negligence.

Back to Neumann -- Razz said that all people should be treated the same, I agree, and he and his wife should be treated like the murderers they are.

Bobby - they got 2nd degree reckless homicide, I do believe. I would think that while this was going on, certain ramifications would swim through a persons mind. Maybe they thought God would take care of that too, and that he would protect them in court. Or that their religion or beliefs would. Why does it always take an innocent life to teach a lesson? I agree that this man should wear that sign, Bobby. And as someone with diabetes, you should be especially aware of what an ignorant move this was on the parents part. Still, faith can be so strong that it replaces all common sense - the sense God gave us to use in these instances!!!

Yes Bobby - all she needed was insulin. A senseless death.

One day I parked at CVS. In the car next to me was a small white dog. All the windows were closed and it was a very hot day. I quickly went into the store and asked the Mgr. if he knew the customer with the dog in the car, he did not. He said well there is a couple back at the pharmacy. I hurried back there and asked them if they had a dog in their car. They said yes. I told them that is a law that does not allow you to leave a dog or child in a closed car . I asked if they wanted their dog to die ? It will happen very quickly. I said get that dog out of the car now or I will call 911. They did go and get the dog . That made me really angry, and I would do it again. If it were a child I would call 911 immediately. As far as breaking a window. I would do it and worry about the consequences later.

Okay off my Soap Box.

LOL I am with you - yankee! This happened to me at a store too - I went in and told the manager and he said he didn't want to announce it over the loud speaker because he didn't want to make the people mad! I said JUST CALL THEM TO THE SERVICE DESK AND TELL THEM! But he didn't so I went to the car and wrote a big nasty note, waited around for awhile and left...then my conscience got to me and I turned around and went back. They had come out in that time, and left - thank God and I hope my note stuck in their mind. It said: "I could legally break your car windows because this dog may die in this hot car. Even though you have the windows cracked an inch or two, the temperature can hit well over a hundred degrees in mintues! Please think of finding another home for this dog if you don't care enough about him or next time, leave him home".... I am thinking of having a bunch of these run off to post on cars but of course, I would check with the business they were parked out in front of first. And if they didn't have the windows open even a crack, I would call the cops, after waiting a few minutes to see if they were coming out right away or not. I had this happen at Job Service once too. The person actually left their dog in their car and went in to take a 2-3 hour class on job hunting! When I reported it to the receptionist, she announced it, and when no one replied, interrupted the class. Lucky the instructor was appalled and told them to leave!

I know, I'm a bitch, and a dog lover. My two most admirable traits.

On a hot day, they say that the brain can boil in just a few minutes in a hot car -- remember that when leaving your kid or animal in a car "only for a minute while I run into the store..."

I had a client arrested in the parking lot of a mall when she left her kid in the car so she could go to a job interview! She did not understand what the big deal was -- "They treated me like a criminal! What was I supposed to do, take the kid to the job interview?" The kid was less than a year old, if I remember right.

UGH! I can only imagine the horrific death that would be. I cannot even drive or ride in a car without a/c! I feel like I am going to expire! Reckless endangerment and child abuse are criminal acts! Maybe she will think twice now and spread the word.

I guess I am on the bitch list with razz. Love for children and animals. I will never think twice of calling 911.
