Poor poor Ressie

My baby has a Doxie's worst nightmare, an injured back.At first we thought it was a UTI because she would scream when she peeed but it wasn't the pee causing the pain it was the pain causing her to loose it and pee. The vet gave her an ultrasound to rule out bladder stones (no charge, what a doll)and fiddled around with her back oh so gently.Viola, he found the spot that is hurting. She is on bed rest with anti inflammatory/pain meds for 2 weeks.Trying to keep a Doxie still in a crate for 2 weeks, this should be fun.
He seems to think it is just an injury at this point and not degeneration. Your love and prayers will be appreciated.

My Kimber was JUST diagnosed with IVDD. She got up not being able to walk on the 5th. The Vet says it happens overnight like that. She is on the crate rest, the steriods, the anti inflamatories. She cried when she peed too, but we know why now.

Its going to be a long hard battle but we are going to do the best we can to get her well.

Oh dear, worst nightmare is right! I pray that Reesie and Kimber pull through this with full recoveries! How I wish our dachshunds didn't have this issue with their spines, it is so frightening. Love and hugs to you and your babies. We are here for you, we understand all too well what you are going through!

Thank you everyone for the loving vibes for my Reese and for Kimber as well.
This morning Reese is doing well, the pain med is working, not one cry or yelp of pain. But that confuses her because I still have her in the crate most of the time of course. I put her down to do her business outside and she ran...UGH! Stop that baby no running. She finally did her duty and came right to me to pick her up to go back in. At least she knows not to go up the few stairs. She wants so badly to be in the big dog bed with everyone else, 2 weeks baby, just 2 weeks.

It is wonderful that these dogs have loving owners as yourselves.
It is also good that you let the rest of us know signs and symptoms of these problems.

I pray perfect health and keep only positive thoughts around them.

I didn't realize it was her back till my vet felt around, just didn't seem to be back related because of the pee, poor sweethearts, I wish they could talk. At least the vet took his time until he found the problem, so many are rush, rush rush.
