One of my favorites...
I heard it first as occurring in Poland right after overthrew Communist Rule, under which generations of kids were allegedly brought up as 100% atheists and did not have a clue about Religion and the spiritual world.
A teacher went into a classroom soon after Poland became religious again. "Today, he said, I want to tell you about miracles. Does anybody know what a miracle is?
No hand went up, no nod, so the teacher tries to illustrate with an example:
"Suppose next Thursday morning, you slip and fall from the 18th floor of your high-rise, fall on the cement yard hard, and walk, everything intact. Not even a cat would survive such a fall. How would you call such an occurence?
A kid raises his hand. "Luck!" he says.
OK, says the teacher, now suppose the tollowing THursday morning, you again slip and fall from the 18th floor of your high-rise, fall on the cement yard hard, and walk, everything intact. How would you call THIS?
Another kid raises her hand. "Coincidence", she says.
All right... says the teacher, getting really frustrated now. Suppose then that for the next 52 thursdays, one full year, you again slip and fall from the 18th floor of your high-rise, fall on the cement yard hard, and walk, everything intact. How would you call THAT!??
A third kid raises his hand "Then it has become a habit!", he says.
