A Studio Addition Update

view link

The construction is going on and I have posted photos on my WordPress blog, if anyone is interested There are several posts with updates, as well as one with the color palette and art windows.

I am going out of town on Monday for four days. It will be a much needed break from the sound of hammers, saws, powertools and a barking dog, a tooth abscess, as well as all the medical issues.

Btw, I was able to stay to a strict diet, stop taking ibuprofen, and my OTC vitamins and minerals, and I brought my kidney function back up to 38%, and stage 3 chronic kidney disease. That is very good news. I've got an opportunity to stay off dialysis, if I maintain the strict diet. Not easy.

All the noise will be worth it once I am in the functioning studio. I can hardly wait!

Thank you tooartsy! It is a dream being fulfilled and I am ecstatic. I, too, hope for much creativity!

I am going to quite smoking in December, and I asked a hypnotist friend to make me a CD. I asked if he could suggest to me that every time I wanted a cigarette, I would get an uncontrollable urge to draw or paint. Hope it works, on both fronts! LOL

So glad it's coming along well. I love the color palette you posted.
I am a fan of the desert too. Which one do you live in?

Thank you, Ladyartist. I live in the Mojave high desert, in Las Vegas, the land of air conditioning. ;-)

Question, peacewithin, are you diabetic?

Hypnotism for breaking the smoking habit worked well for my daughter when she was about 22. The hypnotist suggested to her that she'd wake up with no urge to smoke and that she would want to run. . . . Well, that's the way it was. . . She ran all over the hills of Eureka Springs, AR where she was living at the time. . . . That was about 30 years ago and she hasn't had a single weed since, nor has she done any drugs. She's a dedicated AA member.

In the 30s, 40s and 50s everybody who was anybody smoked cigarettes and, of course, we were careful to choose the brands of cigarettes recommended by doctors. It was very easy for me to break the habit. I did it hundreds of times. I was a very light smoker after age 40. The last cigarette I lit was about five years ago. . . . I've learned not to say "Never again." But at my age it would not be a good thing for sure.

Congratulations on your progress. I know for a fact you would not like to be on dialysis.

I had a studio built in the barn at our new house last year. However...Sherry started to move her horse tack in it little by little. And now she owns it. I still have my big office at the commercial property in Aubrey, about 8 mi. from the house. And I have the house office. Because the house is so remote and on a dead end, it is not a good place for drumming up new sign and art business. And I like getting away and the routine of driving to work. I also pay no rent until May of next year. Maybe then I'll have to encroach myself back into the barn studio and just keep a few clients.
About hypnotism...As a one time Quaker, we strongly believed that being hypnotized was an out of body experience ...not a good thing for me any way.

OMG!!! Your studio is going to be "Wonderful peace!" I am green with envy!!
So glad you are quitting the cigarette habit!! I quit cold turkey in August. I haven't looked back!!! It was easier than I ever dreamed it would be!!! In fact, if I would have known how easy it was I would have done it a long time ago!!!

I thought it looked like Las Vegas in the pictures. My favorite place. I have visited many times and am hoping to retire there in a few years.

So glad you are quitting the cigs.

Richard, next year we will build a woodworking shop for my husband. Mostly, he does bas relief carving, but having his own place will be inspiring, I hope. He needs to work on finishes. He said he wants a bed there. I told him to hang a hammock. LOL

The LBL hypnosis session was beneficial and profound, and it changed me in a positive way. For those who have a spirituality and no fear of hypnosis in the hands of a trained spiritual hypnotherapist, I heartily recommend it. However, one should always be informed first, by reading the clinical studies by Michael Newton, Ph.D. My soul returned to my physical body without any negative effects, quite the contrary, it was an huge blessing.

Each person finds his own spiritual expression, and I am nothing but supportive of any way that one deepens their connection with the creative Source of our existence.

Rose, I debated sharing this construction experience because I realize how lucky I am to be able to do this, and I didn't want to make others feel bad. However, it is part of my joy, something I wished for all my life, most of my 67 years, and now I have the opportunity. As a member of this little art community at Eons, I felt sharing this was a way of sharing myself with everyone, especially since my creative side is offline at the moment.

As I left California, I had a reprisal of my broken and infected teeth rearing their ugly heads. Misery! Monday, I had them pulled, and now I am pain free. What bliss. So you see there is bad with the good sometimes, but the good will last longer.

Ladyartist, I hope you like Las Vegas when you retire here. It changes all the time, but the dry weather is good for my allergies, breathing and bones. Otherwise, it is pretty much like all cities I've ever lived in. The Strip is a little man made aberration that attracts lots of tourists, but is only a tiny area of Las Vegas, and doesn't interfere with the locals in the surrounds. Drivers are maniacs here, thus high auto insurance rates! I stay off the roads as much as possible. I wish for one thing, a little more rain. We live on the side that doesn't get rain to any degree, and with a drought, it is something I miss.

I will truly make an effort to quit. With my husband away when I do it, I think I will have a better chance for success since I won't be worried about treating him bad. :-) I quit once before and did it easily, cold turkey, because I was truly ready to do it. That makes all the difference. It is like a conversion experience. Same with diets. Well, after 6 years, I picked up a cigarette one day when I was stressed, and it was just like any addict falling off the wagon.

My advise for those who quit: NEVER smoke even ONE cigarette AFTER you have quit smoking.

Thank you for your good wishes everyone. I appreciate it very much.

Yes, I love Vegas for what it does for my health too. I always feel better when I am there. I know it has changed a lot. Scott and I read the Vegas paper online a lot. Thanks for the tip about the high insurance rates. My car is so old maybe it won't be a problem when I get there. I have driven around a lot there and the traffic is crazy, but the roads seem well designed. I went to Red Rock Canyon a few years ago and fell in love with the desert terrain. Some people probably think I am crazy, but I am actually very tired of the green of Virginia and this week, after an entire week of rain, I am very tired of rain. It is now flooding today.
