An Afternoon Walk

I bought my little pocket camera a few years ago so that I could always have something with me to snap off a shot or two when I am not lugging around my main SLR kit. I really don’t use the pocket-guy very much, however, in part because I have never been very satisfied with the image quality from it. At sizes up to 1024x768 it isn’t too bad, but when you look at the output at 100% resolution, it is really pretty awful. I am debating whether to buy another small compact camera (I am very attracted to the Panasonic GF-1) but I want to be sure that I will actually use it before I spend that money. So, I am trying to “force” myself to use the little Sony pocket camera, in spite of my IQ concerns, to see if I can establish the habit of ad-hoc picture snapping. Here are a few results from a walk I took today in a local park about a half-mile from my house. All of these are from the Sony DSC-T100 pocket camera. I have tried to make my monochrome images brighter.

Harbinger

Not a bad macro for a pocket-camera.

Woodland Walk

The thing that is interesting here is that the “sun” and lens flare is added after-the-fact in PhotoShop.
