The Nerve of AARP

I thought a law was adopted making it a crime to send those automated telephone calls. Yesterday I got one of those calls from AARP. Not only did I not solicit the call but it also frosted me that AARP is playing politics. They said that THEY were supporting the adoption of the current healthcare proposal and asked me to call my representatives to tell them to support it, too. I think as an insurance company they should worry more about selling insurance than lobbying a political cause. It's no wonder thousands have dropped them over the healthcare issue, I'm doing the same!

They just published an article in their magazine that may save my life! For the LAST TIME THEY ARE NOT AN INSURANCE COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!! All of you that want to poo poo AARP, just friggen quit and spare us the dribble! They do us seniors a service whether you agree with them or not! But I am sick to death of listening to it! Hey, maybe they are socialists or fascists too! Why don't you just blame your mother and father! After all they are the ones that conceived you! It's everybody's fault! It's our own friggen fault! You me, every voter! Especially the idiots that don't have a clue who they are voting for! Yep! Hurray for the popularity contest, and let's put the mouth on anybody that tries to change it! Fox News and all the conservative talk show hosts are all a bunch of rabble rousing assholes, and I think they should just shut the fuck up and be a positive influence on this country!

I think loko may be pissed off about something!:-)

I do agree they do have some good articles in their magazine but they do waste a lot of money on sending me offers I have no interest such as AARP car insurance.

Loko isn't the only one pissed off about the same thing, and for somewhat the same reasons.

And if you're not interested in AARP car insurance, don't respond. I don't respond to all the TV and radio commercials that make the programs available for free either.

...Nor for that matter all the ads right here on Eons that make this site possible without cost to me.

The problem with AARP is the only requirement to join is to be 50yrs old or over: retired or not retired, conservative or liberal, Democrat or Republican, wealthy or poor, educated or not educated, healthy and not so healthy. How can an organization represent such a diverse group?

Good post and great responses.
I freely admit to being in the dark on a lot of things. That's why I joined Eons--to get a broader perspective. I'm certainly not a right (or left) winger and I don't hate AARP for being so progressive. I'm just ignorant and will have to do some further research on this. Thanks for the nudges out of my tiny puddle.
