It's Un American to Dismiss Newborn Babies
Few seem psychologically ready for the 21st Century. It's hardly born and already people behave as if it's a failure. Take heed of Ben Franklin's words, "What is the worth of a newborn baby."
Absolutely. It's astonishing to me how ingrained pessimism is America. And, it doesn't matter which side of the political spectrum. The left whines about Global Warming. The right whines about Universal Health Care.
What's far worse, in my opinion, is their persistent lack of vision. The left can't see that technology holds the answer for Global Warming. The right refuses to recognize that a healthy society is more pleasant than a perpetually sick and injured one.
If my Swedish grandfather was alive today, he would say, "So, you have problems. Everyone has problems. That's life. If we had had a tiny fraction of what you have we would think we had died and gone to heaven."

Who are you to denigrate Burt Rutan whose Enterprise roles out on December 7 and who has designed T/Space's space craft that will travel in 2012-14? And, what have you done that makes you judge of Michio Kaku who coauthored superstring theory, the unspoken motivation for the Hadron Colider?

How is optimism BS? What is wrong with saying the 21st Century will leave the 20th in the dust? If you think your a better American because you only see the dark side, you need to read what they wrote back in the day. Start with 1900 when life was tough. From what I read, they knew they had it rough, but they never doubted things would be better for their families.
Lots of people have it tough today, but they aren't the ones belly aching. It's those in the comfortable middle class who are howling, and from personal experience, I know Americans are the least taxed people in the Developed World. Of course, in countries like Italy, people make a game of avoiding taxes so they don't care what the rate is.
Last point. If you don't like what I say, don't read me. Sounds simple enough.
