It's Un American to Dismiss Newborn Babies

Few seem psychologically ready for the 21st Century. It's hardly born and already people behave as if it's a failure. Take heed of Ben Franklin's words, "What is the worth of a newborn baby."

Those born are readier than we will ever be. Each generation learns things their parents will never come to know.

"I hear babies cry...I watch them grow...they'll learn much more than I'll ever know."

What is the worth of an old man? The baby is full of promise, dreams and hope. The newborn baby is the future we will never get to see. But he will be prepared for it, was born for it. As we were born for our generation. He will do just fine.

I find this a strange and incomprehensible statement. How can you make a blanket statement like this about every child newly born today? Where do you get your information? Do you have some sort of source for this? A psychological study, perhaps, that you can direct us to?

What the hell is this about…A baby is a baby…it learns from its surroundings, not book learning, woops can’t read yet…sorry no more comment…

I get that Len is saying that the 21st century is like a newborn baby, and projecting his insinuation, once again, that most people besides himself and a very few select others are psychologically immature and incapable of coping with the reality of the times in which we live, thus we are Un American and will dismiss the 21st century and doom it to failure.

You said it and not me. Someone needs to stand for the future, because so many otherwise intelligent people loudly proclaim otherwise. When was the last time you saw a program on the great changes certain to happen over the next fifty years (even the next 25) and believed it. When was the last time anyone beyond the same few said "It'll be alright. We've been in worse straits and came out all right."

Go back and read what people were saying in the midst of the worst years of the depression. "It certainly wasn't 'oh woe is me. The sky is falling. Everyone's a crook and it can only get worse. or I want ***** to fail." Since when was failure preferable to success?

Think hard now. Who was the most popular movie star of the 1930's and why? If you can't answer that question, you really do need to look in the mirror and take stock of what you have become.

"What is the worth of a newborn baby?" - BF

A newborn baby is gonna set you back several thousand dollars these days. And it's still illegal to part them out, so, unless your selling futures based on their DNA - I'd have to rate their value in the debit column.

And while the thinking is getting deep here...Anybody know what a kidney is going for these days?

I know who I am and it has nothing to do with the most popular movie star of the 1930's nor with your assumptions about my attitude towards life. Have you ever read any of those words from me? No.

I think you touched on the fundamental problem of America today: instant gratification. If we can't have it this instant with no effort on our part, it's worthless in our eyes. Are we the nation that never grows up?

It has everything to do with the most popular movie star of the 30's. And, then there was the stage play and movie, "You Can't Take It With You."

Life was a whole lot harder in the 30's than it is today and the last thing people then wanted to hear was their neighbors whining about how bad things were and how they were never going to get better.

Today, people throw parties to whine.
