Appraisals

All I can do is give you a educated guess. For a true appraisal It must be tangible All I CAN DO is give you a recommendation to have it appraised Hopefully over time I can educate you and you can be you own appraiser. or have some idea what you have and it's approximate value.

I just posted a few photos in an album in this group. More to follow. I'm hoping you have an idea of the value of the oak barrister? It's quartersawn (sorry for the crummy photo). I have it filled with crystal now on the top two shelves and cookbooks on the bottom two. In a six-room bungalow storage is of primary importance; I very seldom by anything that is strictly decorative.

The victrola does not provide any storage, unless you count the 78's; massive collection in the sleeves, some from the UK. It is decorative but very functional since I use it frequently to enjoy the music of the 20's through the 40's. I wouldn't play anything from a later decade on it because it was meant for a particular kind of vinyl. I've researched in on victor-victrola.com by serial number and it dates to late 1918. Oddly enough it was sold by a company right here in the city where I live, almost 100 years ago. And as I stated previously, I bought it from a decendant of the original owner and it had never left the room it was in,unitl I bought it.

The Villeroy & Boch china speaks for itself. The value was determined by how much the buyer wanted to pay. The pricing per piece probably came to about 1/2 of the amount I received from the buyer because he was buying the whole lot and there is virtually no other place he could find an entire setting for 12 and all the serving pieces in immaculate condition.

Looking forward to your opinion. I'm just a collector and have edited my collections periodically by selling or gifting some of my things.

For instance, I gave my nieces quite a few crystal perfume bottles which I had colleccted and displayed for years on my dresser. I got tired of dusting them and one day just boxed them up and gave them to my nieces. I probably could have made a few hundred dollars but there is something special about gifting to nieces and best of all, giving them the collecting bug:)
