What To Do About a Big Belly

One of the things a lot of Boomers struggle with is a "big belly". It might go by other names such as "midriff" a "beer belly" "big gut" "pot belly" or a "paunch" etc. etc. But, when you're dressing up for a date and trying to look your best a "big belly" can be glaringly hard to look at. You try to stuff it in your skirt or pants but it pops right out again. Wearing a girdle or corset may help but can be very uncomfortable throughout the evening. Just what are your thoughts on what to do with a "big belly"?

wear cloths that fit best for you even if you have to try on 100 things.

Try really hard to get rid of it......wear clothing that looks good on you....eat healthy and get as much exercise as possible. Be the best you can be at whatever age you are.

Live with it or lose it.

If you have one now and the question is how to dress around it, check with someone skilled in fashions. If the issue is what to do with it long term - it depends. If you've lost a ton of weight and it is extra skin there are only two options - have plastic surgery or decide to embrace it.

Other than that - push away from the table, do sit-ups until your muscles scream, and recognize this is a long-term commitment to remedy.

I dont have a belly, but my body has changed shape as I have aged. The waist appears to have thickened and I acquired hips, something I never had in my 20's, but for things that are a little more form fitting SPANDX tee are great. No lines and just kind of smooths out the body. I know women who are thin and have bellys. And they do the sit up thing and the belly thing exerices to get rid of it. Sometimes you just cant, after babies etc, some women just have bellies. Short of plastic surgery your stuck with it. Personally I wouldnt worry about it... Uts part of the aging process as is sagging... welcome to the world of aging.

Probably more boomers have them than not. If you were not one of the lucky ones who still have a great form, remember you are not alone or recontructive surgery..LOL Diet and excersise doesn't always work, that motto is only for the few and far between..I have seen folks male and female not over weight and still the elasticity in the skin is what counts and it ain't always there to bounce back..LOL For women childbirth is a big cause and men well definately over eating or beer causes the pudge..better to live and be happy than to die a beautiful corpse...LOL

I have a lot of loose skin from losing weight and so I take a honest friend, namely my daughter when I shop for clothes.

Not many can afford surgery and is rarely even an option.
