Riding in Packs

Out here in the Delta I see large groups of HD riders on sunny Sunday afternoons. Sometimes they are pretty tight knit, often riding side-by-side. They only group I've ridden with are my few biking friends, 3 or 4 at most. We always string out. Sometimes 1/4 to 1/2 mile apart as long as we can keep track of each other. Does anyone else ride in groups and how?

I ride two abreast with a very few people and maybe with as many as four trusted friends on rare occasion. I do not ride dominoes ( pack )

i gotta go with rewtoo on this one. main reason it's called dominoes is one guy goes down they all go down. i have ridden in groups about 4 times and they always break me out into a cold sweat since i never ever ever trust someone i haven't riden with before. the few guys that i do ride with we always used a staggered echelon--one guy is in the left hand side next guy is staggered back from him and on the right hand side and third guy is staggered and on the left hand side. prevents the dominoes effect.

rbstone,
that was a great link!!!! i especially liked the quote from the person who wished to remain unnamed "you don't race on harley, you don't do tricks on a harley, you just ride." the individual left out what i found to be the case on all four of the HOG rides that i have done. while they ride they ride poorly!!!!! side by side,no echelon so if someone ahead falls down they can be avoided and totally improper spacing between bikes and zero, zip, nada interval spacing to allow vehicular traffic that wants to pass to be able to pass on two lane roads. the only time i have ever violated the one bike length for every 10mph was this summer at the tail of the dragon when i was fortunate enough to have a really hot sportbike rider show me how to ride the thing. however we started out very slow and worked our speed up over 8 total runs on the dragon and we were both smart enough to realize that my sportster was no match for a honda cbr1000rr. kinda made me feel good when he told his buddies and me over a few cold ones "hey this old man is good,i never thought that a sportster could go that fast,he knew exactly when his bikes limits had been reached and the old timer is safe to ride with." maybe if the bagger boys in the link had had their stereos turned off and their heads out of their collective asses the pile up could have been prevented but i feel sure that that would have violated their code of we just ride!!!
again great link and a true confirmation of my worst fears concerning riding with the bagger boys!!!

ps. i bought the cold ones and his gas as way of payment. peggy loved just being able to shop for a while and meeting some nice people to talk to.

I just stuck a sticker on the back of my truck that says "If you can read this.....I can hit my brakes and sue you". How do these bikers think that riding down the road like Napoleons' army is cool?
