Mother Earth News, free newsletters & articles

Back when I was deep into my hippie years, I loved Mother Earth News. That venerable and inspirational magazine is still around and has stayed up with the times. Go to their website www.motherearthnews.com view link for free articles and to sign up for free newsletters about DIY Skills & Projects, Food & Gardening, Simple Living & Country Skills, Health & Environment, and/or Green Energy & Great Homes.

Enjoy!

I can remember buying the Mother Earth News. I like to read it but never did follow through with doing anything they had in their magazine. I never was much of a hippie.

I never was much of a hippie either but I did like to read Mother Earth News from time to time. Never followed through on any of their projects either but I used to dream about going off and living independently in the mountains. Too old for that now. Sigh.

Actually, Mother Earth News has evolved, and a fair amount of its advice is meant for urban dwellers, and focuses on frugal living in ways that can be applied everywhere. Check out the website; today there are articles on growing food indoors during the winter, some interesting recipes including how to make your own soap and lotion, etc.

I just signed up. I have no place for a garden (I wish) as I live in an apartment. Good advice is never without value though. Thank you for the link.

Me too, Otter. But what they offer now is more relevant to now; and also more relevant to us "old hippies" who are no longer able to "homestead" and are not physically capable of earning a living off the land but still want to include some of those values and ideals in our lives. Frugality is still a big part of their current focus.
