It's an F-4C Phantom at Da Nang-the pods are fuel tanks-1969! It was known for chasing down HooDoo's, among other things, was also called the "Flying Brick", very affectionately, by the pilots!

my bother was a chopper pilot in nam
he has all kinds of metals
says it was the best time he ever had
i really could not process that too well in the 1960's
after working for DOD for 30 years .. i get it
and I'm proud of him and you for your service
