CAR PURCHASING/LEASING...

Do you buy or lease your vehicles? Do you always buy American? Do you feel obligated to support the U.S.?
Why or why not?
What's your opinion on those opting to NOT buy American?
In lieu of the present economy, the next time, will you buy or lease...what influences your decision? Have you had to hang on to your cars longer than you normally do?

c'mon...........to your keyboards to sound off!!

We always buy. Leasing is NOT a good deal. Most people that I know who have leased said they'd never do it again. Its been years since we've purchased a new car and we always buy GM, mainly because they're paying our retirement. I 'd never buy a foreign car nor anything else made in a foreign country is I can help it.

I have alway bought except for one time. I was $1000 short of getting the car I wanted and no way to come up with it, that I leased. My experience and cost with a lease car has made me glad that I never leased again. Too costly.

I get a new car every 3 or 4 years at the longest, usually 3. I just feel safer in a new one and I have been paying a car payment since 1974 and it isn't going to stop now. I don't think I've ever had a month free.

I leased from 1993 to 2000, because I had my own business and it was more of a write off. Now I'm back to buying but I have been putting $0 down and always never getting an inequity when I trade in. The secret is to get a car loaded, and one that people will want in 3 years.

I buy Subarus now because of where I live. They are a great little car. I hear Ford is the one to watch though. With sales up they know they have to come out on front with new ideas. Toyota cars are getting bad press now, which helps.

when younger used - favorite the gremlin (levi's interior) and my ford ranger with cap - that took me on many back packing trips... or and my datsun i bought new cause as my dad said the salesman was cute (i was 19 - my dad may have been right)

married leased because ex was ford man... and its what they did. he leased me a
mazda protege - felt pretty sporty

being in dearborn with a son named henry you would think i drove a ford... but went to the ford dealership and all i could afford was a honda element. needed to be able to haul since at the time i was selling antiques.

love the creativity behind honda down yet feel i should go american and long for my ford 1956 pickup (red)

although not one car is truly 100% american and very few are 100% foreign yet i would like to keep local folks employed

We buy used cars usually a year old... all our cars were American, except for a Triumph my hubby had when we were first married....
We own all 3 of our cars......Two Buicks & the Vette

Always buy our cars because we put so many miles on them. I like to say my first import car was a Chevy Caprice. It was made in Canada.

Had VW, Toyota, Honda, Datsun cars. But mostly American. A number of minivans that made it comfortable taking trips with our 3 daughters.

For the first time since I started buying cars all of them are the same manufacturer. Got a Trailblazer, Malibu, and Cavalier from Chevrolet.

Well, I have to say since, back in the day...I've bought used, bought new and leased. And I have to say, leasing worked best for me....but I know it's not for everyone! I never drove alot of miles... school, work, kids to and from activities, grocery store and pretty much local trips. So, the alloted miles were never an issue. And I enjoyed being able to get what I wanted on a car and have a new car, every few years. Have always had GM cars, last 3 leases (when I drove) was a Toyota. That's where I got the best bang for my buck and I think alot of foreign cars have alot of American made parts and visa versa. Although, with the economy the way it is...If I were going to car shop again, I'd have to research more, before making a decision.

Leased once and would never do it again. I drove Toyota for a couple of years, but now only Dodge or Chevy.
