LOL ... she is the cutest, sweetest little gummer I ever did see. ;-)
So tell me how you feed a doggie without teeth? Can food? Ground cooked meat? Do they chew it at all with their gums or swallow it whole?
She sure does have pretty brown eyes and she really does look very happy. Luv her!

I've seen dogs come out of puppy mills that have had such poor care over their time that their teeth are all gone and their bottom jaws are abcessed off from infection from the tooth abcess. Those dogs are difficult to keep alive. Feeding is delicate. Drinking has to be sponge or tube fed, but so many of them come out so happy and loving to be cared for they connect to their owners in a special way, their whole life being so dependent on one person.

All of our dogs are so special to us, but she is the only puppy mill dog we have. THe other two are rescues, their people didn't want them anymore. I have to admit after we brought Miley home I cried for weeks just knowing the hell she went through. She is my special girl, never ever leaving my side. You are right, they are happy to be cared for and treated in a gentle manner, not to mention food and water daily! There is a special place in heaven for people like my friend Lori who does rescue work. I'm so proud to be able to say I am her friend. If you look under the Papillon group you will be able to read "Mileys Story". It's been published twice in rescue bulletins. I'll try to find it and repost it here.

When they don't have teeth their gums get harder. She eats Purina moist and meaty or Hills science diet mixed with the soft Beneful.

That is very interesting to learn and thanks for sharing it. I really can't imagine anyone being so heartless toward such an adorable doggie. The depths of human cruelty has always greatly disturbed me to tears at just the thought of it. Thank God for good folks like you!

There is something about Miley's spirit that reminds me so much of my darling Cricket. She seldom leaves my side but for naps in her special place... she sleeps in our walk in closet, my side of it under my hanging clothes next to my shoe rack. So that is where I put her bed of course. ;-) Her little den where she feels safe me thinks.

Miley sleeps on the bed with us and Meisha and Halo at night. But during the day she likes to sleep between the wall and the bookcase, with her head tucked behind the book case....must make her feel secure?

That's interesting Holly, Sherman like to sleep tucked away in a corner too. He sleeps at the side of the bed at night but during the day he's in his corner behind the TV stand. Makes you wonder where these habits come from but you may be right, it may make them feel secure after all they've been through.

Miley has a wonderful smile, you can't help but smile back. She is so precious.
