Me too. . .just a bit older teen:-)
Who wants to be reduced to a stereotype?
When I first heard the term "Hippie" I thought it was just the invention of some reporter trying to capture a trend. The "beatnik" generation was over and a new generation the "Hippie" had just begun. At that time, 1964, I didn't know if I was in or out of that "Hippie" definition. I still don't know!
Some one said back then that I was "the essence of Hippiedom." I quipped back, "Does that mean that I smell bad?"
My kids call me a "Hippie." So I guess I am, even if I am not sure myself.
But when I get to meet that GREAT HIPPIE: HE will not ask me, "Were you a Hippie?" Rather HE will ask me, "Were you Bernie?"
Well, I had to think about this a bit. I guess i am a full-time hippie with a ferocious bite. I guess, you'll have to throw me out because I do not sit back and let the good times roll. Now i get up and kick'em into shape. I really feel the passage of time and the need to make a difference this time around.
Wollhexe
most of us are out there kicking butt and making the world a better place... hippies are very creative and enterprising folks... not to mention always seeking justice and peace.
