Kids say the darnest things

My 9 year old brother told me today that I was a bad mom for letting my daughter die. It's crazy what they say when they don't understand.

Yeah it is crazy what they say especially when they don't understand. Children at that age do not really understand the concept of death. I know when we told my then 11 year old that his brother was dead, he didn't really understand even after I explained it to him many times. It was not until we were at the gravesite, looking at my son's casket as they folded the flag that he truly understood that his brother was never coming back. Don't let what your brother said get to you, he really does not know what he is talking about. It was not your fault, you did not let your daughter die. God wanted her, so he called her home. Take comfort that she must have been really special for him to call her home so soon, he had an important job for her to do and only she could do it. She is a special angel now doing God's work.

Take care and keept the faith, you are not a bad mommy, you are a special mommy because you brought a special little girl into the world.

Crochetmom is right. Kay. He is too young to understand. Your patience and love for him would help you try to make him understand. It is perhaps a way that is opening for your healing process. He works in mysterious ways.
