FT Hood shooter

Questions:

How did he make Major with his Muslim beliefs?
How many more like him are in the US military?
Did he use his own guns OR from base armory?
Who screened him pre joining the Army?
Why didnt other officers note his 'radical' ideas.
Why didnt Army CI Probe his history?
Did he use his guns, from a friend or base armory?
& IS everyone trained to use firearms (save Chaplins & Medics).

& How Muslims in the military are officers alone?

More questions.

Every base can have same or worse experience.

Or onboard ships at sea?

I don't know the answers to that but you'd think that since we are now fighting in Muslim countries the military would keep a better watch on its Muslims, whether they were born Muslim or have converted. Why would you deploy a Muslim to a Muslim country to fight his own kind? That isn't the first time either. Wasn't it a Muslim soldier who opened fire on his fellow soldiers in a camp in Iraq?

It's harsh but I'm beginning to think we should be tougher and start deporting the m/f'ers. Let 'em go back where they came from and depend on Allah to help them. Maybe they ought to kick all of them out of the military too. I really don't know but I do know this whole thing has pissed me off. It is senseless. My sympathy lies with those who were killed or wounded and their families. I don't care what happens to the shooter or his accomplices.

I do know that according to the news reports the weapons he used were not military issue. And, he had come under watch because of some blogs he had put out but, apparently, the military didn't act fast enough or tough enough. Maybe they should have locked him up pending the investigation and screw his civil rights. Do you have civil rights in the military?

I don't believe that you have civil rights, as we civilian understand the, once you enter the military. While many civilian laws apply, military personnel must live with military laws and requirements. And yes, military personnel do have rights, at least according to my son, who has completed 3 tours in Iraq. As my son has described it to me, the military is not nearly as tough as it was during the Vietnam era. Ft Hood is very close to home for me, both physically and as relates to my son, who is still in the National Guard. The forward guard with my son's unit has been processing through Ft Hood for Iraq deployment for the last 6 weeks. I am horrified that his has occurred within what we would think were the 'safe' ranks of the military on native soil.

Maybe I'm not fully understanding this but this man was raised in northern Virginia, attended college in Virginia and got his training through Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, DC. Was this man not a US citizen whose religion was muslim? Muslim is a religion, not a nationality isn't it? The military accommodates people of all religions and there would be no reason he could not have done his job. Apparently, he didn't want to be in the military anyway but bottom line is this whole event is tragic! The event in Florida is tragic also and I'm wondering what type of copycat event will happen next? Hopefully, it's over.

I don't know where the man was born but he also attended Damascus University which could mean he is Jordanian and a born Muslim not a convert. Yes, Islam is a religion and I have nothing against it per se. There are good Muslims in this world too. It is these radical fundamentalists that have given Islam such a black eye in recent years. Much like the way some Christian sects do the Bible they distort the Koran to make it fit what they think.

But still given the current condition of things I think the military should keep a close eye on all its Muslim members. We didn't send American born soldiers of Japanese descent, if we had any, to the Pacific in WWII did we? It amounts to the same thing only it is religion vs nationality.

I just don't get how one man with two handguns can shoot 43 people. That's almost 22 per pistol with no misses. Just seems like too high a figure.

no: military personnel are subject to the usmjc on base, civilian law outside the base.

supposedly he was born in the US, in virginia (what does va tech do to fuck up minds these days) he didn't want to deploy....why didn't he just resign his commission.

he was standing so the he was shooting over the walls of cubes, shooting down on the person in the next cube. you can be pretty accurate that way.

military personnel are not allowed to carry weapons on base except in special circumstances

i personally do not champion islam. period.

No, FC, we didn't send Japanese descent folks to fight in WWII... We put them in detainee camps throughout the US for years. :) Why I wonder...most of them were born here and were citizens but of Japanese descent.

Moly ~ you got get that Matt boy!

I do know the shooter's cousin said he was taking a whole lot of ribbing from some of the fellas about his religion and having to be deployed! I wonder if all shrinks are crazy!?
