I am motivated because of my girlfriend Cynthia who died at the age of 35 from breast cancer. she got it at age 32 and was dead by 35. We were closer than I have ever been with another girlfriend except the one I grew up with. We could talk on the phone for hours. When my spouse knew I was on the phone with Cynthia, he would just say "good night." Because he knew that we could talk forever. And we even worked at the same place. A real kind of soul mate if there ever was. Additonally, I enjoy all the group activity involved with the 3-Day. You will probably never see an activity as large as this and so organized. You will see teens walking in support of their moms who might have had two breast cancer scares. You will see a lot of people my age and I even saw some in their 70s the last time I did it. When I am doing the walk, I have a Mantra "This is not about you Louise." So no matter how much I hurt, I finish and love every moment. Hope that at least sort of answers your question gmom.
and, every walker HAS to raise $2300.00 just to get the opportunity to walk in the 3-day. The last one I did in AZ, our 3-day alone raised over 8 million.
