"Boomer" question

Okay, just about all of us did it.....
I'm talking about smoking your first cigarette.....
Do you remember it?
And,if you were one of the stupid ones, like me,to continue it.....Where did you hide yours?
Also,do you have any "getting caught" stories?

We all need to realize one thing. Once anyone gets hooked on something, no matter what it is. It's a habit, & it's always extremely hard to quit or stop. You just have to put yourself in that person's shoes before you can begin to understand the reason why they started as well as why they can't seem to stop.

I didn't smoke till I was grown and then somked for years. I quit almost 4 years ago and at that time I was smoking 3 packs a day. I decided one day to quit, went and bought some of that nasty gum and never smoked another one. Boy am I glad I quit before they went up to $5.00 a pack.

Oh,girl...I know!
My son is trying to quit because it's eating a hole in his wallet besides being so bad for his health.

My Aunt Claire accused me of starting a fire in her barn, which I did not do. She said my cousin or my uncle found my butt there. I think a crow carried it in. I never smoked in the barn, too much of a fire hazard. They all knew I smoked and did themselves. Well, not my cousin. He never did smoke.

I didn't start smoking until I was living outside of my mom's house. She never would have allowed it and beat me to a pulp, had I tried, even though she was a heavy smoker herself. I was given one when I was 11 and just about choked to death. I swore I never would smoke, but here I am some 50 years later still smoking a pack a day. As soon as I get the extra money, I'm going to change to an electronic cig I signed up to be an affiliate for. At least, I'll stop getting all the chemicals in my system.

Electronic cigarette? I saw them advertised. Do they really help you to quit?

I smoke one cigarette in my bedroom at 17 to see what was so great about it--yech!! I did not like that smoke in my throat! That was the last one!! It was a cigarette called "Eve"

Oh,yes...I remember "Eve's"...ha
That seems to be the crucial point,at which people decide to smoke or not to smoke!
If people had went with their first feelings about it,there wouldn't have been so many smokers I don't think.
But,I went through the 'queasiness' just to fit in with the other cool kids,at least that was my reason.....and it didn't take long to get hooked.
Although there wasn't as much nicotine in them then.......

I am thankful that I never started because I have had breathing problems for as long as I can remember. I guess I went into remission with my asthma until I was about 20 & then it came back and have had problems since although not as severe as alot of asthmatics. I understand how hard it is to stop smoking because I was a psychology major in college for the time I was in school. I learned alot about why we do certain things and why it's so hard to break habits once we have become accustomed to them being in our lives.
