Do you think we were brainwashed into thinking laundry and ironing are fun?
Got my scrubs ironed laundry put away, going back to work tonite. Not going
to be easy after being out for 10 days, but I'm feeling all better and need a
paycheck next week so I guess I'll go LOL.
You all have a good evening, I'm heading for a nap, and I'll see you tomorrow.

Mother had me up on stool ironing and doing the dishes by the time I was five. Back then we even ironed the sheets, pillowcases and daddy's underwear.

Yes I learned to do all the chores early too, but so did my brothers. I knew early on that the fun stuff was outside, and good stuff to do were the things that stayed done, ie building something. more self satisfaction and appreciation.

but you know I played women's baseball from age twelve professional farm team. We had to wear shorts, always thought that was dumb as we did alot of sliding into base. we wore metal cleats in those days also. lots of "thoughtless" things back then for women. I have a 1957 sports magazine featuring some of the major players of the day. women are featured in very non professional manner even though they were the top players in the world in their sport.. ie pouring tea, powdering thier nose, ironing, nothing at all to do with thier excellence in sports. really awful injustice.

VBG - I NEVER thought ironing was fun - I still remember the time I was ironing while wearing shorts and a halter - and I burned my stomache!! Not fun!!

Now, if something has to be ironed, it doesn't live at my house!

We were raised to do our chores everyday. Living on a farm we were taught early everyone had chores before we got breakfast. Then we went off to school;

Now I do have one of those little ironing boards for sewing projects. Not much else gets ironed her either. LOVE permanent press!

I'm a terrible housekeeper. Don't feel well a lot of the time. I do all the thinking work here, and hubby is supposed to do the heavy cleaning...I stress SUPPOSED to....
