Well Joy and Charles you're right. There are times when you should think things out like before you label someone a racist before getting the facts. and times when you should speak from your heart without making it a political opportunity. On both of these incidents Obama responded incorrectly. Doesn't make him a bad person, just someone who still has a lot to learn.

WTG Market. I wasn't sure how Bush would be brought up in this simple question, but you managed to once again blame GW.

I agree B-C

And Cape, as usual you got your facts wrong. president Obama has never called anyone a racist. He called the Cambridge police department stupid.
As for speaking from the heart, well who can judge a mans heart other than a God. Of which I suppose you are claiming yourself to be? The only thing that makes OBama a bad person is that voice inside your own head.~Smile~

Why Charles thank you for the compliment however I in no way think of myself as G-d other than I do believe that G-d lives in every one of us.
I do stand corrected Charles. The president never called anyone a racist he only implied it.

Charles we've been over this before. There were breakins reported on this street and at this address in the past. The police received a call from a woman,(who was labeled a racist) that teo men were trying to gain entry at Prof Gates residence. When the police arrived Prof Gates took on a don't you know who I am attitude and was arrested after refusing to show any identification. The President, without knowing any of the facts, except that his black friend was involved, immediately labeled the Cambridge Police idiots. Why do you think he did that? Do you think it could have been because the black man being arrested was accusing the white police officer a racist? Sometimes charles you can't see the forest for the trees. It's all okay now because they had a beer together.

While some still have their drawers in a knot over the Cambridge incident the individuals involved have gotten together and are socializing. If they can get over it, why does anyone else still cling to it, writhing and kvetching?

Isn't there anything pleasant in one's day?

" Do you think it could have been because the black man being arrested was accusing the white police officer a racist?"

Actually I think he was supporting a friend and fellow colleague. No more no less. However I do remember Glen Beck raising this spectre of racism and the President when this incident happened.

What was that about the Forest for the trees?
There is another side to that story of what happen in the Gates home on that day. And remember that no charges were filed against Professor Gates.

What Professor Gates was alleged to have said could be taken in two ways. One of belligerence, and one of puzzlement that he a well known educator and writer would not be known to law enforcement officers in the same town he lives and teaches. University Professors of notoriety have their pictures plastered all over town on billboards and buildings by boosters of that University in order to recruit students. So the question " do you know who I am " may have been just that innocent. Speculation on my part? Yes. But so is your racism theory.

You're entitled to your opinion whether it is right or not. The difference between you and me in this incident is that I was able to read the local newspapers, watch the local news, see interviews that the national press did not cover. I have lived near Boston/Cambridge most of my life and understand the dynamics of what happened here. You probably are basing your opinion on what you heard from MSNBC. If you want to have a seperate conversation of whether there is still racism in this country that's fine, but as for this incident I don't believe that you were presented ALL the facts. As you are fond of saying Charles, "just my opinion."
