Start to Live Again; A poem I wrote

They say death is sad and full of tears
Yet death is when we start to live again
Freed from all the pain and suffering

That is what I learned when we celebrated
The death of our Grandmother, laying so peaceful
In her casket resting, beautiful and full of flowers
And only yesterday her life was full of pain

Thirty years being bed ridden, tormented and sad
Suffering, confused and not knowing what day it was
Not knowing your love ones names or faces
As her body diminishes slowly, deterioration of her soul

Her hair turned white, slowly her eye site is gone
Tears rushed down my face on ever visit
How could I be joyful for her being alive
When my heartfelt sadness for her suffering

And yet today at her funeral I cried no more
That sadness in my heart was lifted forever
The cemetery seemed to bring me peace
As the doves flew over head taking her spirit

To that place where she could live again
I could see her smiling from the skies
As if to say at last I am free to live again
Please shed no more tears just be happy for me

They say death is sad and full of tears
Yet death is when we start to live again
Freed from all the pain and suffering

................A beautiful poem, and I agree Lisa. I too missed my girl, but I know too she feels no more pain, and can maybe run and dance wildly again, that she had so missed in those last years. Besides, I think our passing loved ones wish for us to keep a spirited life up, full of adventures and fun, and loving those we can love............
