A Bit of History

1923 Sears Brookside
567 sq. ft. Craftsman-style Bungalow

The little Brookside is tiny, but has all the essentials and a few amenities like the fireplace. It is designed with just one bedroom and bath, but if you check the plan, you'll see that a Davenport is shown in the living room. Davenport in 1923 meant more than sofa; it was a company that made convertible fold-out beds from the couch.

I LOVE Sears Kit Homes. Many are still around.

In the old days employers made factory towns using this product. Whole towns of Sears Kit Homes!

Look at the size of that closet. People must not have had many clothes in 1923.

I much prefer the open concept that today's houses have but wouldn't it be wonderful to get a house for that price today? Around here that amount wouldn't even cover a month's rent.

Look at how the dining room is as big as the living room. Those were the days when the family ate together, breakfast and dinner. No dining alcoves for them. A whole BIG room for it.
