"The Clubhouse".. not much traffic there..

I followed the suggestion of the moderators here and posted my joke in the Clubhouse, which I joined.

The problem there is that the group has only 70 members, very few of which are active, and I just checked a day later and there is no response or new messages. (by contrast, this site has ten times the total as well as the active members)

Put downs? There was none intended, at least from me.

I was pointing out that our '60s rebelliousness was an attempt to break out and think for ourselves rather than just be the dull, boring sycophants that adults might have preferred back then.

Sorry if it didn't come across that way.

The Clubhouse is boring. I weeded out my memberships recently, whittling them from 25 to 15. Most groups on eons are disappointing. They lack intellectual content. I joined two groups that I thought would offer interesting discussions. I found myself embarrassed for the participants. Some groups offer so little in content as to be pointless.

There are too many groups that duplicate others. I have been invited to join groups and ignored the invitations.

Among the most disappointing groups are Hippies for Life and Acoustic Music. The Non-fiction Book Group I was part of was another crashing bore.

Plainoldme, get a pump and try to suck some of that air out of your poofy little head. If the Clubhouse is boring, it's because people like you are too lazy to contribute. If so many groups are disappointing, it's because people like you are too lazy to contribute. If there is a lack of intellectual content....well...that may mean that people like you do contribute.

WHat boggled my mind is that "Plainoldme" was so clueless, she did not even know how to leave the group and asked Michibilly to do so for her! (Unless she is a masochist and wanted to be banned!)

Ha ha ha ...been there. We had a member here who asked to be removed, so I removed her. (Didn't block her so she could have come back at any time.) Next thing I know, she's posting in another group that I booted her out! Another attention-seeking missile.

Ooh! (written with sarcasm)

Well, hometown, you aren't the only one picked on.

So, an eons friend suggested The Clubhouse to me. I'm not lazy. I have little time. However, I thought many of the jokes there were corny, or offensive. I like humor, but, as my older son always says humor is not telling jokes.

My 79 year old aunt and my 86 year old father send me enough jokes to prevent my needing any more.

Michibilly -- I am sorry you think that being the best you can be is having a swell head. The irony is the disdain with which you phrase it says more negative things about you and your own self-righteous state than anything else.

As for someone asking how to leave . . . and I asked long before I pruned my memberships . . .as I was not the only one to ask (and was not the woman who said you kicked her out) demonstrates that the process of leaving a group is not transparent.

Frankly, there is so much that comes to my via my computer that I any time I spend here on eons tends to be in fits and starts.

Esprit -- When I read your snide remark, I thought the nom d'email esprit is familiar. So, I looked at your profile and saw that you manage one of the groups I quit. I quit because I was disappointed with some of the content that was posted there. I had expected more from it. I was one of the more active contributors during my tenure, in both terms of quantity and quality.

Now, Michibilly will probably say I have a swollen head but life is for self-improvement. I didn't leave your group "in a huff," leveling criticism at it and you. He'll probably say that I joust with people with whom I disagree. However, you were the one to be nasty initially. Besides, Michibilly, when people have strong beliefs, when people know their perspective correct, don't they have an obligation to support and defend those beliefs? You support and defend yours.

Now, Esprit earned her whatever-you-should-call a tongue-lashing via email.
