The Space Elevator A Step Closer

The Space Elevator first envisioned by Konstantine Tsilkovsky in 1895 during a trip to Paris (while viewed the nearly completed Eiffel Tower, he turned it upside down in his mind and imagined it hanging from space) has taken a small step closer to reality. A device climbed 2953 feet a thread dangling from a helicopter.

As one engineer said, "Once we put our (engineer) minds to something, it's just a matter of time for us to achieve it," he said.

Naysayers, doubters and Flat Earth Society take note
