My bad....I didn't read the Royal Enfield. Sorry. They also made small arms and ammunition?

The Royal Enfield is still made in India and can be purchased in the U.S. A couple years ago they modernized it with electric start.

Oh yeah...that's right. I've heard they can run on the smell of a diesel soaked rag and leak almost as much oil as they burn whatever in their cylinder. The Brits never got that oil leaking business sorted out on their older bikes. I had a Matchless 650 when in high school and blowing head gaskets was it's specialty as well as leaking oil.

there are a few enfield riders down here. the newer ones (5speed tranny) have electronic ignition and the latest models have fuel injection. they offer a cafe racer kit which is really pretty with all the alloy used on the gas tank and fenders, looks similar to the norton manx and bsa goldstar clubman. the bike is approved for vintage racing by the american historic motorcycle racing association. hitchcock's motorcycle spares offers a 612cc kit which bumps the horsepower from 16hp of the basic no frills model to over 45hp which on a 200 pound bike really jazzes them up. there is also a builder in switzerland who can get even more horsepower but his name escapes me but i think it was something like engli. we saw quite a few of these at the historic races during bike week last march. met a nice older gentleman from germany who comes every year who loves thumpers and their sound at full chat as much as i do. since my ,to this day, gold standard of bikes that i've owned is the honda FT500 ascot 500cc thumper i have a soft spot in my heart for them. all in all if i was to get into roadracing an enfield would be a really cheap way of doing so with all the neat parts that are available for them.
