Katherine Hall Page

Had an e-mail yesterday from a woman I met at the library. I got her started reading Louise Penny's books and she's loving them. Yah! Yesterday she recommended Katherine Hall Page to me. I had not heard of this author, so of course googled her. From what I found, her books, mysteries, reminded me a lot of Diane Mott Davidson, in that she writes about a sleuth who cooks, and also she (author) includes recipes in her books. I will probably give her a try, although as I told my friend, the books sound a little too warm and fuzzy for me, but you never know. Have any of you read her?

No I haven't heard of her, but then I don't think it would be my kind of read as I'm not a fan of Diane Mott Davidson as at my age, I'm not much into cooking any more. Give me Harlan Coben, Dennis Lehane, books of that type and I will read them. I'm still reading Thirteen Moons by charles Frazier, and it seems to be taking me longer than usual to get through this one. Lots of detail, but still interesting.

I have read Katherine Hall Page's books and enjoyed them. I heard that she had a new one coming out this season.

They are about a New England based woman who owns a catering business and solves mysteries on the side. There are always a few recipes in each book.

It's been quite awhile but I have read several of hers. She's a very good writer. I like her characters as they have some depth. Faith Fairchild and her minister husband live in a small New England town in Massachusetts and vacation at a summer cottage in Maine and visit New York so there are various opportunities for finding bodies.

Faith has changed over the years and her relationship with her husband is a pleasing one in today's society. They talk and listen to each other! The stories and settings are enjoyable. Certainly not complex and dark like Louise Penny's more thorough novels. Just very fun reads and some will leave you thinking for a while about an issue.
