Whoopee it's Friday!!!

Good Morning Garden Buds!
TGIF! How are you all doing this morning? I am so happy that the weekend is almost here. It's cold and nippy but the sun is shining. It's supposed to get in the 50's here in Ohio? What is happening with you?.........more

This might be a very good weekend to get caught up and finish all the loose ends in the garden.
Many of you have lots left to do and the weather hasn't be cooperating. What is on your agenda for the weekend?

The picture that I posted is of the main entrance to Fellows Riverside Garden here in Youngstown, OH. This bed is always planted with spring bulbs and they did an autumn display of mums, pumpkins, and corn stocks on the light poles. It is quite impressive. The building that you see houses a restaurant, art gallery, horticultural library, classrooms, and banquet facilities. This is our best kept hidden secret in a city that has died and the unemployment off the charts. Many weddings are held here in the Gazebo and everybody has their wedding pictures taken here in these lovely formal gardens. If you ever get to my neck of the woods I will be most happy to take you for a personal tour.

I hope that you all have a great weekend and thank you for all your post, pictures, and replies. Please keep them coming because you make this group great. It's not about me or the moderators but you and your wonderful contributions in our garden family.

Hugs,
Annie

Now that is a great looking picture. Should be a banner...............

Yes, it looks as if we will have at least 3 wonderful days to be working outside in N IL this weekend! I have a lot of work to do outside, now we'll see how much will I actually get done!

To me it won't matter if I get much done - I just want to be outside. Now I am sorry I let my husband put away my clothesline. It would've been a great time to hang out bedding. I am still pulling clothes out of the drawers and closets that were hung outside, and I take a deep, deep breath of that fresh smell.

I woke up to a truck and a work crew in my back yard this morning. They are getting ready to pour a patio at my back door. This is something I have wanted to have done for years and years. Finally, the day is here.

I had to put in a retainer wall first, to keep the hillside from sliding out from under it. My sister started the retainer wall when she was here last Feb. from Ohio, and we finally got it finished about a month ago. Since then, we shoveled dirt back up behind the wall so it was level. Now finally the patio. This will be soooo nice.

The weather is really nice here in NM, high should be around 70 deg. clear and sunny. It's supposed to be much like this for the forseeable future. I pulled out my beans and squash vines the other day. The rest of my veggie garden is still going strong. I have almost no leaves here. The nearest deciduous tree is several houses up the hill.

Once that patio is settled in, I have a list of other landscaping projects I can work on. Winter is the time to get it done here, it's not so blazing hot.

It's a very pleasant Friday in Franklin, WI. After a gloomy start, we had nice sunshine and promises of a great week-end. I'll definitely plant the bulbs that I have. I'll do that on Sunday. On Saturday, I'll be chairing a Collaborative Meeting for Master Gardeners from counties surrounding Milwaukee. We talk about what our respective organizations accomplished the past year and what we plan for the future.

Wow!
It sure sounds like everybody's spirits are shining and you sure have lots of plans. Sunny you will definitly have to post your new patio. How exciting. Rosie get off that computer gf and get out in the sunshine. It's going to be beautiful here in our neck of the woods.
Mary Jane I am thinking about baking cookies and freezing them. That is something I have never done. I always bake just one thing at a time but I thought I would try some variety.

Kay I would love to have clothes line outside just like the Amish do here. They hang their clothes out in the frost of winter.
Al! I hope that you accomplish some of your projects. Chicago wasn't built in a day. LOL!
Marzien enjoy your Master Gardener meeting. That should be very interesting.

Now to buy some bulbs to put in the ground. I actually got a little burned from being outside today. Yipeeee! Have a nice weekend and thank you gang!

Cheers!

I was driving into town this afternoon and I saw a beautiful tree. It's leaves were red. Imagine that; fall color in my neck of the woods! I was so excited! I just knew I'd have to visit our group and share that with you. There isn't much fall color around here. Our leaves usually just dry up, turn brown and fall to the ground. Our weather has been very pleasant. During the day we're in the 70s. It does get a little chilly at night though. I had to put a second blanket on the bed. I was reading your posts and several of you mentioned planting bulbs. Maybe that's something I'll put on my list of things to do this weekend. In a previous home I remember one fall it seemed my husband and I planted bulbs for DAYS! We were rewarded though when they all bloomed. It was beautiful! Marzien, I've often thought about becoming a Master Gardener. How much schooling does it take? I know there's a Master Garden program offered at U. C. Davis, which is only 20 minutes from me. Well, I guess it's still offered. With budget cuts and all it may not be. Annie, thanks for the great picture of your Fellows Riverside Garden. I can see why people get married there and/or have their wedding pictures taken there. Would love to see it someday. I hope all of you have a great weekend. Take care!
