Thoughts about Beauty

A day spent without the sight or sound of beauty, the contemplation of mystery, or the search of truth or perfection is a poverty-stricken day; and a succession of such days is fatal to human life. ~ Lewis Mumford

All forms of beauty, like all possible phenomena, contain an element of the eternal and an element of the transitory -- of the absolute and of the particular. Absolute and eternal beauty does not exist, or rather it is only an abstraction creamed from the general surface of different beauties. The particular element in each manifestation comes from the emotions: and just as we have our own particular emotions, so we have our own beauty. ~ Charles Baudelaire

Beauty as we feel it is something indescribable; what it is or what it means can never be said. ~ George Santayana

Beauty in not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart. ~ Kahlil Gibran

i understand what fanciful is saying. not just 20 people .. but each one of the 20 has different ways of revealing themselves at any given moment.

what i wait for is the moment when the individual presents their true self ... or they drop all pretenses and become something they themselves do not recognize. A glimpse into their souls ... their unconscious ... or they become a blank canvas that some other form of consciousness . subconsciousness can occupy for a split second ... for ever.

I like deer.. and other cuddly little animals .. but they have nothing to do with the breathless beauty of a woman who has opened herself up to the world ... psyched and empowered by her own erotic sensuality and angellic presence,

this is what many / most living breathing photograpers live for. Those who say they do not are either lying or they are asleep.

sorry .. had a lot of booze tonight and am saying what I think without a whole lot of censorship. I can apologize tomorrow, should that be necessary ... which I hope it is not.

RobertVick: That is an incredible video. A real treat to be able to share it with you. Thank you. It looks like you have created your own piece of heaven.
This city girl would have no idea what to feed deer, but it sure looks like they are enjoying themselves.
To me that is beauty.

We also have critters around-currently there are 3 small ones, born in the spring with their mothers, that come to our orchard almost every day. We have had as many as 20-30 come around at one time or another. They will eat just about anything. I will try to get some photos, but may take a while, as they spook easily. Have friends who have some that join them at the table to eat-they actually go in the house to the table!!

This was sent to me by a friend and if you have been around wild animals much, you know it is not unusual. Have wild turkeys too, but may take a while to get some shots also!

Glad you enjoyed.

Cheers

Robert ... sorry for my drunk hyperbole from last night. there is something very special in gaining the trust of wild animals ... and enjoying a simple peaceful life in nature.

we have a pure white deer roaming around in our neighborhood. when i first spotted it one evening, i thought it was made of plaster or concrete standing in someones yard near the road. then as we got about ten yards away it calmly walked off. i mentioned it to several friends and was surprised that lots of other people have seen it too.

later i heard that thee is an indian legend about white deer. Apparently they were deemed to be sacred and anyone who harmed one would be cursed. And as i have asked around, sure enough it turns out there are local stories about hunters who shot a white deer and died or were seriously injured shortly after.

theres a place in canaan valley in west va where you can rent a little cabin out in the middle of the forest for $60 a night and if you take a bushel of apples the deer will come up like in the video and eat them out of your hand.

it's a beautiful thing.

No need for any of that-see nothing in your post to regret. Speaking of White Deer-they do exist as we have at least 2 in the area, and one has a young thing with it. It is against the law to shot or capture one here..

BTW---I have seen them a number of times and the first time I told someone about it--they, of course asked what I was smoking?

Cheers
