Clicking on their name will allow you to see what they allow others to see. Some people only allow friends to see their info. Many allow anyone to it. Click on my name to see my information.
Elaine, to my knowledge, there is no way of knowing who has viewed our profile.

So how do they know I am here and look at me?
Some people scroll through all members while some scroll through new members and that's how they find you. Also, if you create a post wtihin a group people will find you and if you respond to another person's post people can go to your profile.
You are a new member in one of my groups, for instance. Other members of that group will see that you have joined and click on your profile to learn more about you. That's just one way. I'm not a fan of private profiles, but you can restrict who sees your profile information if that's what you choose to do.

On a similar note, what does the number mean? Is it the number of times your profile site has been viewed by distinct people or could it be the same person over and over again? We could test this if someone want to - one of us could check our number and someone else could click on our names several times to see if each time they go to our profile the number changes or not.
Or, if someone just happens to know the answer....

Well, silly me, I realize we'd need to check with each other about when I start. Anyway, if your number went up by 3 in the last few minutes, Eons counted me 3 times.

Sorry, I just saw your post -- my number went up by 4 since the last time I noticed it, which was sometime before my last post, so about 1/2 hour ago. I can't tell if it counted you three times or not.
To answer your question, your profile number will increase every time someone views it, it may be the same person. The only time it doesn't count is if you were doing the viewing on your own profile.
