Extended Unemployment Benefits

Big argument today about the Extension of unemployment benefits. I find it interesting that people sitting comfortably in jobs can think of all kinds of reasons why it should not be extended (in this economy). Sure, there will always be people who really don't want to work, but with all of the millions of people out of work; I am pretty sure that most of those people would much rather be working. We had a new Krispy Creme shop open here recently, and the owner said he had every body from h.s. diploma to Ph.Ds applying for the 60 openings. So if we don't Extend the unemploymnet benefits, we'll be taking care of these people in other ways anyway.

I agree. Some of those folks who are feeling so smug may one day find themselves in the same position. I still marvel at our arrogance towards our own poor. There but for grace go I.

I'm worried daily that my place of employment doesn't fold. There just are not many jobs to be found. I would have to work 2 jobs in order to make the money that I do now & I just don't think I can do that!

I've been unemployed and often wonder how difficult one has to adjust to a slow spiraling down the staircase called life from making a decent living to no living whem out of work for a long time. I was earning $28.00 per hour when I was laid off as a paralegal, decided to accept $20 as my lowest and was offered a job for $12.00 (parttime). My solution .... freelance ... so far, so good.
