What Do They Call You?
Sometimes on TV shows, I see people referring to older people they don't even know as 'Gramps' or 'Grandma'. It seems derogatory to me. Nobody better call me Grandma unless they are my grandchild!
Mexico is a politer society. I am always addressed as 'Maestra' (teacher, a term of respect), or 'Senora' (Missus). No one uses the equivalent of 'lady', as in 'Hey, lady, would you move your shopping cart?' hahah. Not even in the third person, 'That lady over there.
They say, 'The Senora over there.'
Anybody ever addressed you disrespectfully simply because you are a teeny bit older these days?
