FYI

Home Depot is doing a trade in on Christmas lights. They will take in old Christmas lights and give a credit towards the purchase of LED lights.

The LEDs use 80% less energy and will last 10 times longer than the old bulbs.

Lighting amounts to about 15% of total energy use in the US.

Good to know, Layla. I stopped using decorative lights outside my home several years ago, but the tree lights could be changed out because I love to leave the tree lit all day on the gloomy winter days that I am home.

If you have had them for several years then new ones could be safer too. We don't always store them in the best conditions.

It is a good thing all around.

thx for the tip! I usually put a small string around my window and lower edge of the roof (only where I don't need a ladder! lol)

I put lights on three live, varried heights, pine trees every year. The small white lights. The trees are on our front porch, grouped together. They look beautiful shining through our heavily wooded lot.
We use a lot of those little lights. Every year we have to replace strands.

This is a great idea Layla. Better energy use, longer life, and at a discount!!!
