Whats on your Thanksgiving Day Menu? Trying something new this year? or having the traditional Turkey meal?

My sons go for the deep fried turkey. It's always good even last year when we found out that a BRINED TURKEY deep fried appears to need dramatically less time to cook. No legs or wings were edible but the rest was tasty.

Mine like ham best. Don't think we are doing much this year. Will fix a small meal to take to my mom, who is more homebound this year. One is now living out of state, one out of town, one needs to go with in laws, and one is separated from ex-wife and kids and has to work. Doesn't seem the point for hours of work and a huge meal. Think I will crock a ham, do some beans, and make home made roll (for the gravy of course). Make up a pumpkin desert and call it good.

Traditional turkey with stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy. Any new recipes I try in the early fall with a small turkey.

In recent years I've changed recipes to reduce fat and calories but never change the above items. The mashed potatoes can be made days ahead of time which is such a convenience. They're made with cream cheese and sour cream. Yummy!

My son just let me know last night he'll be driving in from Indianpolis for the weekend. I am so happy!

I haven't really decided yet, but it will probably be a ham because my husband hates turkey.

Well it's at my daughter's house but it will probably be turkey, mashed potatoes, bread dressing(I make that), gravy, various vegetables, deviled eggs(I make those), a cake that is a new recipe I'm trying, corny bread, and the rest I don't have a clue. I'd say that's enough! Of course we usually have quite a crowd. Some where around 18 to 30, with a few neighbors popping in for a piece of cake or pie. They live in the country where everyone knows everyone and their families for years. It's really neat cause if you need help you call on so and so cause that is the kind of stuff they know how to do. It's like the old times.

I think we are going out with another couple. Boys not available. and all their kids are out of state so we are thinking of just doing a restaurant buffet.
then cook a small turkey on another day just to have something to snack on!

I haven't made Thanksgiving dinner for maybe 15 years, since the kids all had to go different directions, and of course, here in Mexico, it is not a holiday so we were always teaching that day.

But this year I am making something small. Bought two turkey legs for the R.H. and the only turkey breast I could find is frozen in a box with seasoning already. No problem, good enough for us two. The usual accompaniments ... rice for him, and peas and some mixed veg for the both of us. Canned gravy. May have to be chicken gravy. So far, no turkey stuff in the supermarket here. No stuffing. No place to stuff it. hahaha

Maybe will buy some dessert.

I always have dinner but this year going to son's house. I am doing the turkey, stuffing, and gravy to take and she is doing a ham. Her parents and brother are coming from PA..an hours drive. It will be nice not to have all the mess for a change.
