Body Image

I recently saw that women, when they shut their eyes, over-estimate their hips by at least 10". So the question is: do you perceive that you are larger than you are? Shut your eyes, stand in front of a mirror, then measure your hips and mark it on the mirror. You will be surprised how much larger you think your hips are than they really are. Interesting little experiment.

There is so much negative body image thrust upon women that I am one who refuses to play into it. How about you? Who else feels that we should have reached the point where our value as a person should not be measured by the size of our hips or boobs?

We are not going to take it anymore. Women are human and we all should respect that. There will be those people who judge us by looks alone, that can't be stopped, but we women must be positive of who we are. Our body image should be HEALTHY.

I know I am a small woman...and yet I am what I am. I would rather not focus on my hips or my weight but instead focus on my health instead.

Feeling good about myself is more important than obsessing on what others think of me. It has taken me a lifetime to become who I am, and I will celebrate it, not diminish it.

I WISH I overestimated my hip size, but alas, I don't! lol...But, seriously, I've grown to love my pear-shaped body. Yes, I have wide hips and no matter how much I diet or what I weigh, that is the natural shape of my body. I just wish it hadn't taken me 40-plus years to accept it and love it!

My husband would probably say I do, but I don't think so. 10"....damn...that's a lot of over estimating!

Sharing a part of my horoscope from the Daily OM web site :)

Our true beauty comes from the uniqueness that lies at the core of us. We often get caught up searching for beauty in external features, when it is our spiritual essence that shines forth and makes us beautiful. By choosing to express the deepest parts of who we are in every experience, we give form to our uniqueness as a person, both spiritual and physical. We are a divine expression of light and love, which is far more beautiful than even our best physical features. As we glow with happiness and enthusiasm for life, we free ourselves to focus less on any perceived flaws, and more on living a meaningful life of joy and fulfillment. By sharing yourself honestly with others today, you will allow them to glimpse the true divine beauty that lies within you.
