I use nothing special in the way of software, most of the time I do very little to my photos other than resize them so that they load quickly for most internet connections. I do use the manual settings on my camera nearly all the time though, I rarely use auto for anything and not that it makes me a better photographer but I also have a relatively expensive dSLR camera.
I would suggest that if you are getting grainy images the camera is selecting the wrong ISO setting, for most shots it rarely needs to be above ISO 400.
I would suggest joining one of the photo groups on here or perhaps one of the many photo forums that can be found on the net.

Thanks Trevor, for the response and info. My brother has an SLR digital and gets beautiful photos also. Mine is not SLR. I think I probably had my camera off automatic by mistake and as you advised, the ISO setting or another was incorrect.
i do belong to a couple of photo groups on EONS, but all I do is lurk as they are so far beyond my level of expertise. I am going to check for classes locally. I really want to take my camera off manual and know how to use it when I do.
Mondami, I'm also a member of several photo groups and I would urge you to please come and join us. I know I learn new and helpful things and I only have a little pocket camera.
and we sure enjoy all the pictures you all take......I need a new camera......
You did a great job catching the transitioning from summer to fall! Thank you for posting!
