VBaby--it ain't winter yet and you already have your winter headshot (love the coat).

Yeah, Yankee fan from birth--neighborhood in B'lyn divided--Yanks, Giants, Bums (Dodgers) when they were all NY teams.

Stopped following MLB in '61 when Maris hit 61 and Mantle hit 60. It evolved into "sit and wait" for the pitcher and catcher to do a ritual for ONE pitch. A one-hour game became a minimum of 3 hours, 2 hours of which is dedicated to pitching--rather watch golf.

Turned game on last nite at the bottom of the 5th when the Yanks were up 7-0. Decided to watch CSI-NY, watched part of the 11 PM news and then returned to game--now it was the top of the 8th and the score had changed to 7-3. It took another 45 minutes to wait and see the team run out on the field.

I still enjoy the hoopla...LOL

yes I am not a big baseball fan but was impressed in this economy that 50000 fans could afford a ticket to the game. The pitching staff was great but was quite surprised that the mvp was Japanese and he couldn.t even speak English on this awespicious occasion.I guess the days of it being the all American pastime is over.

Ron, Americans also play on Japanese baseball teams. No, baseball is Not All-American, it is a universal sport and money dictates who plays where--in the case you mention, the price-tag for MVP was $23 million. It's an Equal-Opportunity sport and everyone is welcome.

Yankee fan from birth?

Go DODGERS! Well, at least until they abandoned us and moved to LA.

The best pitcher I ever saw was Sandy Koufax. He owned Mantle in the '63 series.

Of course, the most explosive batter I ever saw was The Mick.

Heck, I was 15 at the time and convinced I was gonna be a 3rd base professional baseball player.

HAH!

You can never stop rooting for the Dodgers. They work hard at playing the game of baseball.

The team in the Bronx BOUGHT the World Series or they would have been sitting at home watching it at the end of the season. Their ticket prices are too high and their taxpayer funded stadium is beginning to fall apart.

Any team that takes away a track and softball fields from the local community and then takes their sweet time replacing them by keeping the old stadium still standing deserves no respect or support. All Hallows Catholic High School used those fields for their home games (2 blocks away), no courtesy of this idiotic team they now have to play their HOME games in Staten Island, 30 MILES away.

They can take that team to New Jersey and we would have better traffic here in The Bronx. The team stinks.

Gee, I thought this post was supposed to be a celebration and light-hearted. Two replies display bigotry or political dissension.
