I would like to read that part....do you have a link? Did you read that in the bill or hear that somewhere?
Within five years every citizen should have insurance, those who do not will be required to get insurance - unless they can prove they can afford to pay their own medical bills.
There is nothing about a government takeover of the health insurance companies.
If it says something different, prove it, because that's not what I read.
I, too, would love to see documentation as thus far I haven't read anything in the plan that says that. It does say all plans will have to meet certain regulatory change requirements within 5 years, but that is a far cry from requiring everyone to switch to the government plan in 5 years. Unless proof is given, I call BS.
pancho3, I did not read it in the bill. Just keep alert to it and watching. In the mean time I'll be digging further to confirm it. Language can be very vague at times, especially politic speak. I am very wary of what they will sneak in to any bill, especially a 2000 page bill.
That is not what I have read plans will need to meet a certain standard of care services. but never seen this 5 year thing where did you read or hear that from?

Google it. You'll find opposing views. I have not read the bill yet, I simply say, beware. I will continue to dig on this subject. I do not trust our politicians to do what is right by us. The big government crowd wants big government no matter where it leads or what it means.
Don't you think that's a bit disingenuous Scott?
Your post reads like you actually read the passage of the bill that implies this section. I suggest you read it before you spout off.
So before you actually read something you cry wolf and spread rumours? how nice of you Scott......can we deal with the truth here, its confusing enough without scare tactics that are just designed to spread discent.
You don't trust politicians, well apparently we cant trust you either if you are spreading rumours before you get the truth......................everyone is wary of government health care, we need to get this right, make some good descisions and try to do right by those who can not afford good health care. Seems to me we should be trying to be a bit more encouraging .......I agree with TwoSpirits. Read it, then report it and denounce it if you must, but do it when you actually know what you are talking about then we can at least respect your opinion.
Scott, you did not post your contention as a question or even say that it was something you had heard or read. You posted it as fact. Shame on you for becoming one of the fearmongers whose goal is to stir up fear and create discontent. You should know better.
Keep the Coverage You Have . . . But Only for Five Years
If you like the health coverage you have, you can keep it. That’s been the rhetoric. But HR 3962, the bill Speaker Pelosi announced last week, doesn’t read that way. See Section 202(b)(1), “Grace Period” on page 91. An employer plan can remain as it is for a five-year grace period, but after that, the employer plan “must meet the same requirements as apply to a qualified health benefits plan.” And those requirements include all the rules about mandated benefits and how co-payments and deductibles are structured.
