sewing table in progress

Here is the sewing table my hubby and friend are making for me. Nice and large, 4x8, has 4 large drawers, 2 on each side of where I sit. Still needs a formica top..probably the hardest part, my hubby doesn't know how to afix it and needs to find someone who has the tools to complete it.

But I am using it now as is, can't wait for it to be completed, LOL.

the parts of the room you can't see are still a mess!

That is a marvelous quilting table. You will be able to manage large size quilts on that one! And I agree with Tuscon what a wonderful large space you have for your studio. I hope you have hours of enjoyment in your new space.

I love your sewing table. Big enough to spread things out as needed. And as has been said before, what a great space in which to create!!

Wow! Fantastic table! Your studio is huge compared to mine. If I put your table in my studio I'd have to climb over it to get out! When the formica is added your quilts are going to slide so easily too.

Nice table. You are really going to like it. Mine is about that size and don't know how I worked before I had it. Enjoy!!!

Awesome, I love the inset for the machine. I had one that my husband made for my Singer and it worked so well. I like my new machine but there is no way to set it level with the work surface, such a boon for quilting.

I do think a sheet of ply wood could be attached to the table I have with not too much trouble.......Sue, you have started the wheels turning here.

Thanks everyone, I am eager for it to get finished but I don't know when that will be.

The bottom is made from the base of drawers from our old water bed....it had 3 drawers on each side. Hubby stacked the 2 sets of 3 drawers, added a 'dust liner' on the bottom and some more wood to make it ergonomically suitable for me. So the middle 2 drawers got cut out for my legs and the shelf that holds my machine. The drawers are much larger than typical for a sewing table, my hubby had a great idea.

In the bottom photo you can see the corner of the table that I was using before. It is just a smidge taller than the new table. It will get pushed up to the edge and my other 2 machines will get put on it for my grandkids to join me in sewing...they are eager for that to happen. I was hoping to find a matching formica for the new table but it will be a different color, no big deal.

I am so jealous! There is so much room! I think if I got rid of some furniture -

It might fit in mine but moving up the stairs might be a problem. Enjoy!
