Train Rides

My favorite train ride was the Cumbres/Toltec in Southern Colorado, which I took about four years ago. Steam powered all the way, with absolutely gorgeous scenery! Does anyone else have any experiences they would like to share?

I'm kinda with jimmy on this. My longest train ride has been from home to Philadelphia. Probably 30 miles or so. Commuter trains stop at every stop, so it takes a good 1 1/2 to 2 hours to get there! Always talked about a cross country trip, but it hasn't happened... yet!

When I was just a kid, my parents took the train from NYC to California. They loved it, especially the scenic glass roofed cars; Union Pacific, back then and I believe still in use? It was 1948.
