Today I marinated the last of the mushrooms same as before, but stuffed them with the onion dip that I use. Left for the job site around noon. Just got home (6pm) and gave them a taste. WOW. This is going to be a regular dish for me this winter. I can pop them in the dehydrator when I leave and have nice warm, delicious, stuffed mushrooms when I get home. Those, along with a nice salad, make a perfect meal. (tonight I'm finishing off my radish/mustard sprouts with mixed organic greens ... very tasty.)
Man I'd love to go to your house for dinner! Or lunch or breakfast...
It's interesting to me how you have integrated your dehydrator into your life somewhat similar to how I've integrated my slow cooker into my life.
Couple questions:
1) Do you make your garlic olive oil? Any hints?
2) What do you use for sprouts? Are these the same kind you order online? I really do need to start sprouting. I found packages of sprouting seeds at my local organic store. But they seemed too expensive to use for real.
Also, do you have a favorite mix you buy? I just looked at sproutpeople.com and there are so many choices!
Hey bordercollie - you can come for brekky, lunch or dinner anytime. :)
ahhhh - sprouts. Isn't sproutpeople a great site???? I like hot ones, so I order nicks hot sprout salad mix, and the mustard/radish mix too. I also sprout fenugreek, alfalfa and clover. oh, broccoli and cabbage too. Would like to sprout dill see, but haven't found anywhere that sells it yet. I do mung beans and lentils as well, but I get those at the local Whole Foods. I generally put a tablespoon of clover or alfalfa and a tablespoon or two of something hot in one of my easy sprouts. I munch on the sprouts as soon as they start sprouting, so by the time they get "big", there aren't many left. lol
I didn't know how to make garlic olive oil, so I just took a small glass jar, put in several cloves of garlic and filled it with olive oil. Seems to have worked just fine.
lol - the dehydrator. Nice this time of year to have something in it, as it is a wonderful source of heat for the kitchen area. (I'm resisting turning on the furnace) I have to say, that onion dip in those mushrooms was unbelievable. Was nice having something to eat as soon as I walked in the door!
My distiller throws a bit of heat, too, so that helps keep it toasty warm out there.
Wait stop. Distiller? I guess I didn't envision you sitting around drinking all night. If that's what you really want, OK but....
Seriously, what are you using a distiller for? Are you extracting volatile oils or something?
Water ... lol ... I drink distilled water.
Had a good chuckle at the vision you evoked with your question ... thanks. I needed a good laugh -- be a more than long day.
