The healthcare bill

One of the consequences of the healthcare proposal put forth by the majority in congress will be that after 5 years of keeping your current healthcare plan you will be required to change to the government version. Everyone will be required to purchase a plan, whether you want to or not.

Does this not infinge upon your freedom?

Does this not put the lie to the Obama quote: "If you like your present plan you can keep it." Should he have said: "If you like your present plan you can keep it for five years."

I worked for 20+ years in my career to keep those medical benefits after I retired. If I knew they were going to force me to take their plan I wouldn't have put up with all that stress, I could have worked a McDonalds instead. It makes me sick that they are trying to shove this down our throats and force us to pay for something we don't want and some of us don't need.

I think you are missing the point. In the negotiations to get universal health care there will be several areas that you will not like. And I certainly don't like certain parts, either. However, that can be tweaked in the next few years.

The problem is that we have the most expensive health care in the world, and we are only number 37 in the delivery.

We don't have to be #1 - but #37? WHY? view link

Some of us do not need this medical care. I don't need it, either. However, there are 40,000,000 + Americans who do need it....

My main point. I do not trust the federal government to be able to run anything, let alone our entire healthcare system. I know it needs reform to make it better. That does not require a total takeover of the system, even done in a stealth way by discouraging private providers over a period of years.
I remember what Obama and many other liberal democrats have said in the past. The objective is to "get to" a single payer (ie: federal government in control) system.
I DO NOT nor WILL I trust them. Period.
