REJECTED, yet again... Maine...

Voters rejected a state law Tuesday that would have allowed same-sex couples to wed. The repeal comes just six months after the measure was passed by the Maine legislature and signed by the Democratic Gov. John Baldacci.

Maine would have been the sixth state in the country to allow gay and lesbian couples to marry, but instead becomes the 31st state to oppose the unions in a popular vote.

With 87 percent of precincts reporting as of 2 a.m. today, gay marriage opponents claimed 53 percent of the vote to supporters' 47 percent.

I will NEVER understand the bullshit that poses for argument as to why an individual should not be able to choose their own partner without interference from the government or their neighbors...

How can anyone even presume that they have a RIGHT to have any say in the sex life of another adult if it is not harming anyone ?

There's a bill before the Senate that needs to be passed. We need to let our senators know that we support equal rights for all, including gay, lesbian, transgender people who are being denied employment and fired to this day because of their sexual orientation.

Target: U.S. Senate: In 29 states, it's still legal to fire someone because they're gay; in 38 states it is legal to fire someone for being transgender.

Thousands of hardworking lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Americans have lost their livelihoods simply because of who they are. HRC is working to end this bitter injustice by passing a fully inclusive Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), a federal bill that would make it illegal to fire, refuse to hire, or refuse to promote employees simply based on sexual orientation or gender identity.

The Senate has, for the first time, introduced a fully-inclusive ENDA. Send your Senators a message today and encourage them to co-sponsor this critical legislation.

To take action, here's the link:

They didn't vote about sex they voted about marriage; it's still homophobia. Talking about homophobia, it wasn't to long ago that a certain someone was name-calling someone else a homosexual in a failed attempt to discredit them; that's a homophobe.

This is an ideological thing to me. I, personally, do not care. I don't need anyone's permission to love whomever I want to love... I simply WILL. But, there is no reason why those of us who wish to get married and live life as a legally sanctioned family should not be able to do so.
