Good morning, Nancy, thanks for the nice graphic! I find myself watching it for awhile, getting into that world.

NIce picture Nancy and do you live where folks like to go and watch the whales? That would be fun. Scary but fun especially if you were in a boat. I hope that you are feeling well?

I'm great ,feeling about 45 !!
and we have whale watching tours here but on the coast, an hour from where I am..My son and his wife took me on an old sailboat one summer, and there was a whale watching boat there ,too. We saw it when we were far from shore.. He wanted the sailboat ,because he could help with the sails. It was a huge boat and it took a lot of people to get the sails up.. What fun is was,though..

That would be fun, and it would take an experience person to keep everybody organized!

What kind of whales are there? We have belugas in the inlet, which I've seen only a couple of times over the many years. We don't see more than just part of a beluga back for a second or two. They travel in pods, but I never know where one will appear so I can't get pictures.

About 20 miles off the coast of Maine is a feeding ground for hungry whales. It is the perfect spot to catch a glimpse of the world's largest living creatures. While many of the whale watching excursions leave from Bar Harbor, whale watch cruises are available up and down the Maine Coast. The chance of sighting a whale during one of these cruises is so high, some companies offer a money back guarantee. Whale watching is a family friendly activity that is both educational and enjoyable. Revel in the excitement as a whale spouts a stream of water into the air or breaches the ocean's surface, crashing back to the water with a spectacular splash. While cruising in the Gulf of Maine, keep your eyes peeled for dolphins, seals and puffins too.

This is all the info it gave on the Maine Tourism page.. .No idea what kind..

In California, the Cetacean society had whale watching trips in Feb. during the grey whale migration down the coast when they head for Scammons Lagoon in Baja California to calve. I did get out one time and we did see a whale, but I was getting seasick from the boat wallowing in the troughs, so didn't enjoy it as much as I wished.

Interesting, Nancy and mtwoman! There are wildlife viewing cruises out of Seward, a 2-hour drive from here through the mountains. I've seen humpbacks and porpoises on those, and sometimes people see killer whales (orcas). I enjoyed seeing humpbacks in Hawaii, which migrate from Alaska.
